Clément Quinton, Seaside Landscape Brittany Pasture Of Bovidae flag

Object description :

"Clément Quinton, Seaside Landscape Brittany Pasture Of Bovidae"
Beautiful painting by Clément Quinton: seaside landscape in Brittany with cows and calves, quite representative of his favorite subjects. Large format, having been exhibited (label on the front). Signed lower left and probably dated "95" difficult to read (see photo). Clément Quinton was born in Paris in 1851 and died in Saint-Maur in 1921. Painter and engraver, pupil of Léonard Saurfelt, he made his debut at the Salon des Artistes français in 1879 where he exhibited regularly and won several prizes. Settled in Saint-Maur in 1900, he was one of the founders with Victor Lecomte of the Society of Friends of the Arts. He worked in Brittany at Ploumanac'h. This is probably where our picture was painted. His work is first of all related to the Barbizon school by his way of building landscapes, but, sensitive to the influence of Manet, he quickly incorporates Impressionist innovations in the treatment of light. Decorated with academic palms, he knows a lasting success thanks to his sensitive landscapes, his endearing genre scenes and his portraits full of emotion. Dimension without frame: 49.5 x 65.5 cm
