It was his paintings Soleil couchant and Matinée d'été that enabled him to obtain the award[3]. of the jury of the same salon in 1900, he also received the gold medal in 1902. Joanny Arlin won the gold medal at the Universal, International and Colonial Exhibition in 1894, in the Fine Arts category, thanks to his painting Soleil couchant. Inspirations His paintings are inspired by the landscapes that surround him. He thus painted the plains of Dauphiné and was inspired by the surrounding villages: Décines-Charpieu, Anthon, Pont-de-Chéruy, Crémieu, Optevoz, Creys-Mépieu and even Morestel. It represents the edges of woods, the ponds under an autumn day or a twilight. His works are poetic and leave a lot of room for melancholy.
