This piece is not an original, but a manufacture from the end of the 19th century (or even from the 20th century? difficult to specify…).
An original model, (almost impossible to find) was sold twenty years ago by the Czerny's house for more than 30,000 euros... here, we have an item which does not claim the same seniority, certainly, but at less than 5% of this price only…
The skull is grooved, it is made in several welded parts.
On its top is added a piece cut out in a star and chiseled (conform to the original model)
The rear part of the collar is made up of 3 cut iron blades, attached to the skull by rivets. Each blade has a chiseled clear band
The front part of the collar is also made up of 3 riveted blades, and decorated in the same way with chiseled friezes. It is fixed to the lower front part of the armet by riveting.
The lower movable part of the armet, which represents the face, is in 3 parts, in accordance with the original, the two cheeks being attached and held in place by riveting. It is held in position with the lower part of the armet by a forged, functional hook.
The upper movable part of the armet (visor) is also decorated with rivets and chiseled bands.
I think the photos are self explanatory.
Even if this armet does not have the historical experience of an original piece, it remains very decorative, at a very affordable price.
