"Buffet Two Regional Bodies In Honey Cherry - Nineteenth"
Two-body sideboard from the Rennes region, in Cherry Honey tint. It is by definition composed of two elements - the first being narrower than the second - separable from each other by a simple system of return screws. The upper part, in Gendarme's Hat, is topped with a Cornice with a slight cove. It opens with two glazed doors, with bars, locking with a period lock with its key. They discover three chestnut shelves, placed on racks and therefore adjustable as desired over a total storage height of 125 cm. The lower part offers three drawers with a depth of 11 cm. The one in the center, with a keyhole and its bolt in working order, is also narrower than the other two, which have pull handles on cut-out brass plates. Below, two solid panel doors with symmetrical veining reveal a 50 cm high space furnished with a shelf, also adjustable. The sides of the furniture also consist of recessed panels. The set rests on a base slightly projecting and modestly scalloped on the front. The back and the bottoms of the drawers are in Chestnut. We can imagine the upper part of this piece of furniture being used as a bookcase or dresser, while the lower part will retain a function of buffet strictly speaking. We will appreciate the narrowness of this Purified Two-Body, which gives it relative roominess while maintaining an interesting storage capacity. ******** Period: 19th century Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop.
