"Marie-madeleine Weeping The Death Of Christ, Large Oil On Canvas, Eighteenth Century"
Important oil on canvas from the first half of the 18th century, representing Mary Magdalene mourning the death of Christ. A major figure in Christianity, she is the first witness to the resurrection of Christ and is responsible for announcing the news to the other disciples. Our painting represents her walking on the heights of the city of Jerusalem, which can also be seen in the background of the painting, probably going to the tomb. Our painting is in very good condition, it has undergone a conservative restoration (small repaints etc... see photos) as well as a relining, both quite old.
