Object description :

"Felix Rasumny, Beautiful Small Art Nouveau Circular Silver Mirror, Bag Or Pendant Depicting The Goddess Psyche"
A beautiful Art-Nouveau period circular silver mirror; the obverse side decorated with a portrait of a young woman in beauty, representation of Psyche by the artist Felix Rasumny.
** Circa 1890-1900 **
Diameter: 4.4 cm / Thickness: 6 mm / Weight: 35 g
It opens by pivoting the two silver discs facing each other (the two inner sides are lined with circular mirrors, the glass is bevelled at the perimeter (note that the taint of the mirrors is altered; curiously, the alteration of the taint on the reverse of the portrait almost reproduces the contours of the latter (however one can still see oneself correctly in the reflection).
The object is signed in calligraphic letters with the artist's name, the initial of his first name and his monogram.
The bust of the beautiful young woman is wearing small wings, she is represented in a frame of vegetation and flowers in a resolutely Art-Nouveau style.
The object is in good condition and shows traces of use, small scratches and small dents on the reverse (visible against the light), but nothing prohibitive in view of its age, its history; perhaps this adds to the charm of this antique mirror that has been worn a lot and reflected the face of its confidant certainly retains some of its soul.
