"Oil Dourne, In Copper. 18th Century."
The pear-shaped body with a pleasantly curved high belly, rests on a beaded base. The frustoconical neck with a rolled edge, forged and assembled, just like the whole, by crenellated brazing of brass, is connected by sleeving. Flat axial handle (bumpy, with tin fillings). Bottle angled at right angles. The lid is articulated in two equal halves by a hinge whose axis crosses the handle. This type of object offers numerous similarities and variations in pewter which affirm, thanks to their maker's and town hallmarks, their indisputable geographical origin from Lyonnais to Languedoc. On the other hand, we strongly dispute their dairy destination, lent by certain amateurs or described in certain works. All you have to do to be convinced of this is to document the agricultural production of the regions concerned at that time... Total height: 45 cm. Diameter at the belly: 27.5 cm. 18th century period. Very good condition. See additional information on: http://antiquites-lauginie.fr Free shipping by COLISSIMO for metropolitan France.
