"Pierre Chiboust"
Extremely rare pair of incense burners forming Empire period candlesticks signed "PIERRE CHIBOUST" (1779/1824). Baluster-shaped on a pedestal with in the upper part of the belly, heads of griffins on both sides, supported by consoles decorated with palmettes. The vase resting on a square base decorated with female bacchic figures wearing Indian masks and vine branches. The other decorations form wreaths of laurel and flowers. All resting on a quadrangular base with a frieze of applied motifs with matt and golden patina. They are topped with an ogee lid with a pearl grip, openwork with palmettes, all resting on a cylindrical base decorated with grooves in relief, also called (godron). Exceptional work of carving, gilding and original patina. Pierre Chiboust, bronzier in Paris (1779/1824).
