"Tenchifa Or Mirror Trim In Embroidered Satin From Tetouan - Morocco Early 19th Century"
Circa 1800-1850 Morocco - Tetouan Precious Tenchifa or mirror trim which was used to decorate the aristocratic residences of Tetouan in Morocco. Long rectangular strip of Prussian blue silk satin densely embroidered in Majolica stitch with polychrome silk threads. Decoration with a large stylized bouquet and basket, surmounted by a pomegranate in shades of red, yellow, white, sky-blue and indigo. Fine garland rising on one side. Reversible embroidery. Some traces of insolation on the back, no other defects. Very good structural condition of the satin background and embroidery. Dimensions: 225 cm long by 49 cm wide.
