Hervé Masson,
born January 17, 1919 in Rose-Hill and died in Paris on May 13, 1990, was a Mauritian painter, poet and journalist, Freemason and Martinist. He is the brother of the writer Loys Masson.
He is a major painter and chosen, in his time, to be the worthy successor of Bonnard. But Hervé Masson was not just that. Independence activist, journalist, essayist and co-founder of the MMM, he left his mark on his island with his visceral commitment to what was not yet called "Mauritianism"...
