"Precious Illumination Around 1500"
Large and precious illumination produced on vellum around 1500. It is a biblical scene representing a saint giving the last rites to the dying (perhaps victims of the plague). Work of great finesse of execution, enhanced with gold, with richly dressed characters against the backdrop of a Renaissance church. The frame is made entirely with gilding, like a rich tabernacle. The back is a book page engraved with Gothic characters, with two initials enhanced with gold, and a magnificent frieze. Very good state of conservation. Dimensions of the sheet: 22 X 14 cm
