This proof seems to be a mix of lithography and photogravure, usually known as "herkomergravure". (invented by Hubert von Herkomer).
The original work was exhibited for the first time at the Royal Academy and in 1899 at the International Exhibition in Paris, where it was awarded an honorable mention.
