The composition is perfectly balanced, also animated by workers and walkers on the left side.
This painting, made around 1900, is reminiscent of the works of Alfred Sysley, in particular certain views of Port-Marly (Cf. "La Seine à Port-Marly, pile de sable", 1875).
Painter of landscapes, waterscapes, still lifes and draftsman, Alexandre JACOB was a pupil of Eugène Claude.
He exhibited in Paris at the Salon des artistes français in 1899, became a member in 1902 and obtained an honorable medal in 1908 and a gold medal in 1914. He also received a gold medal in 1937 at the International Exhibition. He also exhibited at the Salon d'Hiver et d'Automne as well as in numerous private galleries.
The French government, the city of Paris and the General Council of the Seine purchased many of Jacob's paintings.
His work is exhibited in many museums, including those of : Troyes, Saint-Etienne, Fougères, Paris, Saint-Nazaire, Saint-Quentin and Arnières.
He obviously enjoys high prices, highly sought after by international collectors, his works can be found in many renowned galleries.
