Jean Henri Naderman is considered one of the most famous French harp makers of the 18th century, known for his sumptuously ornamented, sculpted and gilded instruments. Throughout his career, he remained faithful to the mechanics of simple movement despite the improvements made in particular by his rival Cousineau. His sons, François Joseph and Henri, perpetuated the use of this simple movement by promoting it in the famous Methode raisonnée for the harp published in 1825 and by continuing to manufacture harps equipped with this system.
