The English history was fashionable in the arts in the first half of the 19th century. The theme of Edouard's children was disseminated by Paul Delaroche in a painting from 1830 (Louvre) and in a reworking of 1852 known from engraving. But other artists seized the subject like François-Michel Pascal or Alexandre-Evariste Fragonard.
Edward V and the Duke of York are imprisoned in the Tower of London. They huddle against each other and foresee their disastrous fate, that of being assassinated, which would have been sponsored, without the historians and specialists of this period being certain, by their uncle, the future King Richard 3.
