"Shepherdess Louis XVI Period, XVIIIth Century, Decor Of Rais De Coeur, Piastres And Fluted Spindle Feet"
aVery beautiful Louis XVI bergere in waxed solid walnut. It rests on four tapered and fluted legs. The two front legs are terminated in their upper parts by a constriction supporting a cubic thimble carved with a rosette on which the side crosspieces of the belt and the curved crosspiece on the front are assembled. These three crosspieces are decorated with rais de coeur. The armrests of our bergère are in "cavet". They are formed of a fluted and rudentée stop, surmounted by an acanthus leaf decoration surmounted by a row of piastres. The inside circumference of the backrest is worked in rais de coeur. The high crosspiece of the backrest is strongly curved and lowered at both ends, and called "hat" by the fashion cabinet of March 1786. This seat is a beautiful model typical of the creations of the 1780s. This armchair is in very good condition. and great stability. Old reinforcements have been added and embedded in the woodwork at the back of the backrest at the junction of the armrests and the top crosspiece. Also note that each foot has been raised with a wooden addition turned at the request of the former owner, in order to have a higher seat to allow this seat to be used not only as a leisure seat but also as an office chair. Also note a small tear in the fabric on one of the cheeks as well as some water stains on the seat (see different photos). Shipping costs by carrier contact us.
