Paul-Émile Colin "Au Maréchal" Drawing circa 1920 A peasant leads his horse to the farrier, bareback, long reins, confident, the draft horse walking briskly across the farmyard. Paul Emile Colin (1867-1949) remains very attached to his Lorraine origins whose landscapes, villages and their inhabitants continue to inspire his work despite the influence of the school of Pont-Aven where he meets Paul Gauguin and Meyer de Haan . A great illustrator and engraver, he is at the Museums of Fine Arts in Nancy and at the British Museum.
