Fireback cast in the 17th or 18th century, bearing the arms of the Goesbriant family, established near Morlaix in Finistère, this noble family of ancient chivalric origin had 14 generations at the reformation of 1669. Goesbriant castle, in Plouigneau , owned by the family since the 13th century, was besieged in 1710 by Prince Eugene and the Duke of Marlborough and only capitulated on the orders of King Louis XIV.
