"Sloping Office In Oak, Directoire Style - 2nd Part Nineteenth"
Regional working slope desk in solid oak, also veneered in cherry and sycamore. This marquetry, underlined by a wide fillet of light and dark wood, forms diamonds appearing as a succession of identical cubes on the top, the belt and the flap. The latter, applied to the frame, is equipped with a functional original lock with key and brass diamond entry. It opens on iron hinges and is held horizontally by original iron hooks. The interior offers on each side, in tiers, two drawers with lens buttons decorated with nets. One of them conceals a lock which allows the opening of a reserve concealed in the center by a sliding plate. A two-tier cubby and a lightly cut-out shelf complete this space. The belt of this piece of furniture has two drawers of the same composition and spirit. It rests on four sheathed and chamfered feet. The crosspieces are slightly cut. This slope office, which has benefited from quality regional work, will appeal in particular for its dimensions, its sobriety and its elegance. ******** Period: 2nd part of the 19th century Excellent condition.
