"1920's Solid Silver Chinese Shaker"
Elegant solid silver shaker bearing the hallmark " ZEEWO " of the silversmith Zee Wo, who worked in Honan Road in Shanghai. It is decorated with chrysanthemum branches whose flowers are finely engraved and carved in relief. Its decoration, its lines and its curvature are of Art Nouveau inspiration.
 
During the 20's and 30's Shanghai became a powerful commercial and financial center.  Its cultural identity was transformed by the contact with Westerners, who contributed to the growth and syncretism of the arts in the port city.
