Henri Charles Antoine Baron (1816-1885) was a French artist born in Besançon, a pupil of Jean Gigoux. He exhibited at the Salon in Paris from 1840 and quickly acquired a good reputation, the Duke of Aumale placed an important order with him. The Empress Eugénie bought him an important work "Official Party at the Tuileries Palace during the Universal Exhibition of 1867", exhibited at the Salon of 1868, he presented "Winter", a work also very noticed during the Universal Exhibition of 1878 in Paris. He works regularly with the artist Louis Français, of whom he will record some works, active in defending the profession, he participates in and co-founds the magazine "les artistes contemporains".
