"Couple Of Rabbits By G. Beauvais"
Couple of grey-blue polychrome cracked ceramic rabbits by Gabriel Beauvais, in an affectionate posture. The group is placed on an irregular octagonal base which has the artist's signature on its upper face and some égrenures at its corners. The crackling, mainly present on the base, was a ceramic firing technique in vogue in the Roaring Twenties, inspired by a very old Chinese method.
Beauvais was a famous animal sculptor, the main artist proposed by the publisher's gallery Kaza, directed by A. Zondervan, located rue de Paradis in Paris.
