Leopold I, known as Der Alten Dessauer (born 3 July 1676, Dessau; died 9 April 1747, Dessau), of the House of Askanien was Prince of Anhalt-Dessau from 1693 until his death. He also served as a reformer of the Prussian army under Friedrich Wilhelm I and as a field marshal under Friedrich II. He fought in the Silesian Wars and was victorious at the Battle of Kesselsdorf. Leopold I is one of the most important generals of his time.
