"Lithograph "boat On The Strike" Georges Braque"
Lithograph on the shore was painted in 1956 in Varengeville where Georges Braque spent his summers from 1929 and where he had a studio house built by the American architect Paul Nelson. This installation on the Normandy coast was accompanied by the artist's renewed interest in landscape, but it was especially in the last years of his life that he gave it a central place. The sea, the deserted shore where the only human presence is embodied in abandoned boats, the cliff, the fields of the Pays de Caux plateau are represented in narrow horizontal formats.
