"Wash On Paper Berger Landais Reference Gustave De Galard XIXth Century Unreadable Signature"
This work is a wash on paper attributed to Gustave de Galard (1779 - 1841). It represents a Landes shepherd on stilts, in a traditional folk outfit from the time even before the development of forestry under Napoleon III. The work dates from the first half of the 19th century and shows a very high quality of drawing and wash technique. The inscriptions at the bottom right of the sheet are not legible enough to be certain of the date, place and artist, but everything suggests that it is a work by Gustave de Galard.
