Very beautiful cloisonné enamel dish, richly decorated with peony flowers, foliage, birds and butterfly on a blue background. Frieze with stylized motifs all around. Japanese work from the end of the 19th century, Meiji period. The technique of cloisonné, which first appeared in China, consists of delimiting the perimeter of the design with copper wires and then applying enamels of different colors inside the partitions thus created. Everything is then cooked at high temperature.
