"Rare Opaque Porcelain Toilet Set From Gien, Chenonceaux Model, Decor At La Bérain"
Elegant and very complete toilet service, in opaque Gien porcelain, Chenonceaux model. Stamp 1886. This very rare model has a decor "à la Bérain" in shades of blue on a very decorative ivory background. The decor known as "à la Bérain" refers to Jean Bérain father, painter, decorator and decorator of French theater, appointed to the court of Louis XIV in 1674 as draftsman of the King's Chamber and Cabinet. The Bérain style, famous for its arabesques decorated symmetrically with volutes and other lambrequins, will influence the whole of Europe. The set is made up of 5 pieces: - a jug (a small chip on the beak and a practically invisible chip on the heel): height 30 cm, width at the handle 20 cm, width at the front 16 cm; - a basin (slight chips on the edge): height 13 cm, length 39.5 cm, width 37 cm; - a sponge holder (very good condition): height 8.5 cm, length 22 cm, width 16.5 cm; - a toothbrush box: height 8 cm, length 21 cm, width 9.5 cm; - a soap dish (hair crack and chip inside the lid): height 9 cm, length 13 cm, width 10 cm.
