"Edgar Chahine Lithograph"
Edgar Chahine (1874-1947) is a French painter and engraver of Armenian origin. Born in Constantinople, he trained in Italy in Venice and then in Paris where he joined the Jullian Academy in 1895. His engraving work is widely recognized since he won the gold medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. this lithograph presents the female portrait of "Aïcha", in black and white. We recognize the great technical mastery of the engraving of the artist, the way he restores the features of the drawing and the expressions of the face is absolutely remarkable. This lithograph also echoes the work kept at the Armenian Museum in Paris, where a Portrait of Aisha in pastel is kept. He is also recognized for his portraits of the Belle Époque. The work that we present to you is in excellent condition.
