"THESE LITTLE MEN, 4 RUE DE LAPPE", soft varnish engraving like a pencil on paper enhanced with original watercolor and wash from the 1920s, is typical of Jean Auscher's interest in the Parisian underworld, annotated below left 4. RUE DE LAPPE CES PETITS MESSIEURS and lower right Auscher. Jean AUSCHER (1896-1985) painter and illustrator exhibiting at salons in 1923 and 1933, 1st Grand Prix des Arts Décoratifs, was interested, in the second half of the 1920s, in the middle of the Parisian cabaret as well as in the entertainment world that he describes in collections of lithographs.
