Rich embroidery of silver threads, different on each side, with vegetal and floral decoration on red leather.
The leather remains darker on the outside. Inside, the wallet has four gusseted compartments: two on each side closed by a flap with a brass press stud.
Each press stud is decorated in low relief with a hand of Fatima and closes perfectly.
Fatma's hand remains a religious symbol but also a protective symbol, it is found on many objects in North Africa, produced by Jewish, Muslim and Berber civilizations.
This craft comes from the Jewish quarter of Fez in Morocco, called the mellah, renowned for its seniority and know-how.
Very little wear, mainly on the corners. The leather is beautiful, supple with a beautiful patina, no lack of embroidery.
Documentation from the book Arts and Cultures of Morocco by Marie-Rose Rabaté and André Goldenberg.
