"Lunula Hosts Silver Vermilion Box Minerve Poussielgue-rusand Nineteenth"
Lunula box in finely chiseled vermilion silver, decorated with a stylized cross on the lid, hallmarked Minerva (1st title) and silversmith's mark Poussielgue-Rusand*, with its lunula, from the 19th century. This box is in good general condition as well as its lunula. Hallmarked see photos, no hallmark on the moon but has been tested. A note: slight wear of the vermeil on the box, micro-scratches and slight wear of time, see photos. *Goldsmith Placide Poussielgue-Rusand (1857-1891): PPR hallmark with a heart, star, anchor and cross. Parisian silversmith known above all for his liturgical objects: chalices, ciboriums, patenes, monstrances. He is also the author of the high altar of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Paris and the crown of light of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris. He also worked for Notre-Dame d'Amiens Cathedral, where he notably created the superb bronze altar of the Sacred Heart Chapel, as well as the reliquary of the head of Saint John the Baptist. During his lifetime he received the title of "Manufacturer of the Holy Father the Pope". He trained Émile Evellin, a Breton goldsmith.
