Small Japanese Cabinet In Gold Lacquer On A Black Background

Small Japanese cabinet in gold lacquer on a black background resting on a table serving as a base. It opens with two leaves, attached by imposing and rich brass hinges, on the front and reveals a set of seven drawers, one of which gives the illusion of a door with a lock. The cabinet is decorated with plant ramage in which various birds strut their stuff. On the leaves, the interior decoration represents a rooster on each of them. The exterior decor of the cabinet takes up landscape scenes with various birds, all embellished with architectural elements. The scenes are framed by friezes of stylized flowers and leaves. The rear face of the piece of furniture is finely decorated with a delicate foliage line. The keyhole and the spandrels are made of brass. The base has a frieze motif on its upright legs that takes up the one that frames the decorative scenes.
