Views Of Lyon, Early Nineteenth Century. flag

Object description :

"Views Of Lyon, Early Nineteenth Century."
These large paintings are painted in gouache on engraved lines, their subject is the banks of the Saône in Lyon, one represents the Saint-Jean cathedral under the hill of Fourvières seen from the quai Saint-Antoine, the other is seen from the foot of Pierre de Cize's castle opposite the Quai Saint-Vincent and the granary of plenty in front of which is the Serin bridge, since destroyed and replaced today by the Koenig bridge. These two landscapes are enlivened by the fresh colors of gouache, they are animated by a few characters and constitute fascinating documents of what the quays of Lyon could be like at the beginning of the 19th century. These two works have retained their original frames and glasses, and although in a good state of preservation, here and there appear a few small freckles and a slight scratch on one. Period, around 1820. Frame dimensions 62.5 cm x 82 cm, views one measures 40 cm by 61 cm and the other 41 cm x 62 cm.
