"Abstract Painting - "tree Of Fire" By Robert Wogensky - Oil On Canvas - Ca 1960"
French artist of Polish origin, Robert Wogensky was born in 1919 in Paris and died in 2019. He is the brother of the architect André Wogenscky. He studied, and later taught, at the Beaux Arts in Nancy and Paris. He developed an extraordinary art of tapestry and stayed with Jean Lurçat after the end of the Second World War. His work in oil on canvas is rarer but just as important. Robert Wogensky is part of this movement of multidisciplinary artists who worked in Paris from 1900 to 1960 that is L'École de Paris. It focuses on the themes of Water, Fire and Living Natures. He made paintings full of power and relief exhibited in the 1960s by Pierre and Jacqueline Domec, director of the Pierre Domec gallery in Paris. "Tree of fire" belongs to this series of paintings. This canvas that can be described as abstract is ultimately not so much. You can clearly see tree branches overgrown with a shade of red, yellow and orange depicting fire. The line and texture are remarkable. Finally, it is pleasantly framed in an American box with golden tones. Work signed lower left and titled and signed on the back.
