"Emil Eisman Semenovsky 1857-1911"
EISMAN SEMENOWSKI ÉMILE Principal Emil Eisman-Semenovsky (1857-1911) is an artist whose biography, unfortunately, is preserved only fragmentarily in some historical documents, which is quite strange, considering that the painter did not have lived in the Middle Ages, but not so far back. 19th century. The artist was probably born on the territory of modern Poland, which was then part of the Russian Empire and was called the Kingdom of Poland. Based on this information, some sources (American and Western European) claim that Eisman-Semenovsky is a Russian artist, but there is no confirmation on this. Judging by his double surname, he was born into a mixed Polish-Jewish family. It is known that since the 1880s, Emil Eisman-Semenovsky lived and worked in Paris, which is why he is often referred to as a French artist. It was here that he met a more famous colleague of the workshop - the artist Jan van Beers (Beers), for whom he worked for several years. The genre in which the artist worked was the portrait. He occasionally paints children's portraits or genre sketches. By the way, Eisman-Semenovsky (like the Anglo-American artist Pati Bannister) can be attributed to the number of masters who managed to transfer the immediacy of children to the canvas, convey the features of gestures, views and of childlike innocence. However, the greatest cultural value is his work with the image of female images. Flowers in the paintings of the artist also do not occupy the last place, and this is not surprising - because the female image is so harmoniously complemented by delicate petals of wild flowers and luxurious buds of large roses or shiny chrysanthemums. Artist's portrait painting: The oriental motifs present in many paintings are fairly faithfully reproduced on Eisman-Semenovsky's canvas. At the same time, not all female faces have pronounced "oriental" features. All the girls whose images are immortalized in the painter's paintings have one thing in common - large eyes, slightly obscured by languid, shiny, expressive and mysterious hair. Paintings with flowers - a topic that deserves special attention. Playful bouquets, charming compositions on hats, light crowns - all this makes the works of Emil Eisman-Semenovsky lively, light, very realistic and at the same time delicate and weightless. The image of flowers gives paintings an inner glow and delicate charm.
