Atelier Mêne or Mêne-Cain
This model dates back from 1877 and was presented in wax at the Salon of 1878 and in bronze the following year. It is thus a late work, which is part of the series of figures that Mêne developed at the end of his career. A few years earlier, in 1873, Mêne presented his Arab Falconer on Horseback at the Salon.
There is another version of larger dimensions, less detailed, possibly a posthumous enlargement.
