Object description :

"Fiji Ceremonial And Jet Massue, Oceanian Puzzle (primary Art XIX Object Of Curiosity)"
Old I ULA DRISIA warrior puzzle from Fiji Polynesia. Crafted in a hard wood type "iron wood". The top of the round mace is carved in a root knot and the sleeve part is finished with a traditional geometric zigzag decoration. It could be thrown or used as a mace and worn permanently on the belt which gave them this very beautiful patina of 'use. These exceptional objects were collected from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century by explorers, missionaries and scientists. This Oceanian club was not intended solely for combat, but also had a religious, political and ceremonial symbolic function, much were designed to symbolize the bravery of the warrior, the authority of the leader and the divine nature of his power. Dimensions: Height: 40.5 cm - Diameter: 10 cm - handle diameter: 2.6 cm Weight: 580gr.
