"18th Century Oak Spice Chest On Feet, Named Johan Eckerman, Dated 1776"
Important domed chest on oak legs from the 18th century that belonged to Johan Eckerman (Swedish spice merchant). Of the German type, this chest is dated 1776 and inlaid on the front with a two-tone eight-pointed star (Rose des Vents). The sides of this trunk are decorated with starry prints, these patterns seem to be oriental, surmounted by a cross, frieze carved at the base. Beautiful period ironwork hinges, we note that the interior lock is missing. Very good original condition! It was simply treated with fungicide and insecticide before being cleaned and waxed, it required very little restoration (photo of the restorations on request).
