BIOGRAPHY
Jacques DESPIERRE, born in Saint-Etienne in 1912, is part, like his colleague and friend Georges Rohner, in the line of painters of French tradition.
His spirit of independence, a natural sense of harmony, the eloquence of the gaze and a warm humanism have never ceased to animate those who thought of architecture and color.
He made his first exhibition in 1938 at Jeanne Castel. The same year, he won the Paul Guillaume Prize. He exhibited faithfully at the Guiot gallery from 1959 to 1982. Then Joubert gallery since 1988.
In 1970 he exhibited at the Paris gallery and in 1978 Wildenstein gallery in London. He participates in all the Salons, Tuileries, Autumn, Comparisons and Painters witnesses of their Time.
Founding member of the Salon de Mai with Gaston Diehl, it was he who had the idea of baptizing the salon with the name of the month in which the first salon was held in 1945.
He participated there until 1966. Regularly invited to exhibitions groups in France and abroad.
I invite you to read the complement of his biography on Wikipedia.
