FLOWER HOLDER
France, circa 1880
Gilt bronze and glass
H. 20 ; Diameter: 21 cm
Flower-holder composed of a gilt bronze vase, which recalls the shape of the crater in chalice. It is mounted on a pedestal, entirely openwork and punctuated with medallions depicting putti and trophies of musical instruments and arts, women's heads, foliage and garlands of flowers. It is decorated with a removable blue glass lining.
The large display case bears the signature "F. Barbedienne" in capital letters. It also has a lining of the same material and colour as the vase.
