"Bukhara Turkmen Saddle Pairs (2 Saddles)"
Entirely hand-knotted, pure wool, vegetable dyes, size: 1.15mx1.15m. The term "Turkmen rugs" refers to rugs made in various regions, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, East Turkestan, Afghanistan and Balochistan. Turkmen carpets include, among others, bashir, salor, tekke, tjaudor and yomut carpets, all of which are examples of carpets that until a few decades ago were called Bukhara carpets. What distinguishes Turkmen rugs is, among other things, that their warp is almost always made of wool, that their "göl" type patterns are repetitive, and that they often have wide borders on the widths that one not found on the lengths. Red, playing on the whole palette from purple to brown, is a dominant color. Tekke-Bochara, Ersar, Tschoval, Beshir and Jolam-Bocharaband are all examples of Turkmen rugs.
