The 7 volumes. First edition of this text by Jean-Louis-Marie Poiret, who was an explorer in Algeria and who collaborated with Lamarck in the development of his Botanical Dictionary of the Methodical Encyclopedia. In 1789 he published his "Voyage en Barbarie, ou Lettres ecrites de l'ancienne Numidie pendant les ans 1785 & 1786, sur la Religion, les Coutumes et les mœurs des Moors et des Arabes Bedouins, avec un Essai sur l'histoire naturelle de this country". Several plants and animals bear his name, as well as a naturalist magazine created in 2008 and entitled Poireta in tribute to his work.
