Georges Bareau (1866-1931)
Georges Marie Valentin Bareau , known as Georges Bareau (1866-1931) was a French sculptor .
He entered the École des Beaux - Arts in Paris where he was a pupil of Charles Gauthier and Gabriel-Jules Thomas .
He exhibited at the Salon from 1889 .
In 1893 , he obtained a third medal at the Salon of the Society of French Artists then , the following year , a vermeil medal at the International and Colonial Exhibition in Lyon .
He was awarded the Salon prize in 1895 , he was classified out of competition at the end of the Brussels Universal Exhibition of 1897 .
A gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris definitively crowns the career of Georges Bareau .
He was promoted to the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1906 .
Georges Bareau died in 1931 bequeathing all of his works to the town of Saint-Nazaire .
