"Pair Of Large Trash Vases In Gilt Bronze Empire Period Early XIXth"
Pair of richly chiseled gilt bronze basket vases Empire period early 19th century. Each vase is formed by an openwork Medici-shaped bronze basket delicately chiseled with honeycomb flowers on the top and surrounded by friezes of water flowers and gadroons then flowers in braces. Each vase rests on a pedestal resting on a cylindrical shaft, surrounded by a frieze of acanthus leaves and finely chiseled flowers in braces, ending in a square base. Mercury gilding with original double patina in very good condition cleaned by our workshop (slight wear on the square bases) Empire period work of quality both in the gilding and in the finesse of the carving.
