Chest of drawers called "jumper" in the shape of a "crossbow" in kingwood and satin marquetry Stamped IC SAUNIER ** Louis XV XVIII th century. The generously eventful front face opens with three drawers inlaid with kingwood and light satin. The curved sides are inlaid with kingwood in four leaves underlined with a herringbone light satin net in kingwood frames, rounded uprights inlaid with simulated grooves. Rich ornamentation of original mercury gilded bronzes in very good condition (cleaned by our workshop, slight traces of wear on the handles). All of the bronzes bear the hallmark of the "Crown C" which attests to a tax on metals in force between 1745 and 1749. Assembly of drawers and sides in oak, original locks working with two keys. Original molded morello cherry red marble top in good condition (old restoration). Morello cherry red marble was often used for royal commissions such as the fireplace and the furniture for the King's Corner Cabinet at Versailles. This chest of drawers with singular proportions and Regency influences was made between 1745 and 1749 at the start of Jean-Charles SAUNIER's career. ° Jean-Charles SAUNIER Parisian cabinetmaker joiner received Master on August 27, 1743, he was the son of Charles SAUNIER and kept his father's workshop rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine in Paris. He was part of the Jurande of his community between 1750 and 1752.
