Hearth Cauldron, Brass, Tripod, Dedicatee, Dated 1732, And Surprise! flag

Object description :

"Hearth Cauldron, Brass, Tripod, Dedicatee, Dated 1732, And Surprise!"
Beautiful cauldron from airain, (bronze for bells and food objects), sand cast by two moulds, each side bears the name of the dedicatee twice: Jacques Guillaume dated 1732 on an oval, and on centre the letters IHS of the consecration.
Could be GUILLAUME Jacques born 26 Jan 1711
The bulbous base is surrounded by applied filets, it rests on 3 tapered feet to stay on embers, two triangular handles are enclosed by an iron handle.
A good and a bad surprise: this cauldron has been in new condition since that time, and has been used very little: the reason: a few casting holes, which made it unusable as it was...(see red arrows). The object being consecrated (like a bell), we left it that way.
(Modern technology would now allow repair) Personally, I like it that way. See our last photo...
Dimensions: 23cm x 21cm x 30cm. Weight: 5.6Kg! Take a good look at our photos.....
