Large and rare engraving engraved by Rollet after a painting by Eugène Le Poittevin (1800-1870)
Wintering of a crew of Dutch sailors on the eastern coast of New Zealand.
Louis René Lucien Rollet (1809-1862) was an engraver specialised in mezzotint, pupil of Daguerre and Jazet.
Dry stamp of the publisher Rittner & Goupil, which could indicate that the proof dates before 1841 for the company Rittner & Goupil was dissolved the 10th of may 1841, following Joseph-Henry  Rittner's death.  (Source : la Maison Goupil, Galerie d'art internationale au XIXème siècle par Agnès Penot, Editions mare & martin Paris 2017)
