Superb small impressionist canvas representing a shaded country lane with haystacks in the background. the canvas is in very good condition but needs cleaning. Is it présentes in à magnificent old frame where i have replaced the small brass plaque marked V.VIGNON. On the back of the frame of the canvas, handwritten inscription "Meules à B...... painted by V. Vignon". the canvas is, at the bottom right, dedicated "to Monsieur Choiselat, homage to VV". Victor Alfred Paul Vignon was born in 1847 in Villers-Cotterêts and died in 1909 in Meulan. he belongs to the impressionist group. he was a pupil of Corot, Flers. He was exhibited in major galleries such as the Durand-Ruel gallery and the Bernheim gallery, which organized a major retrospective of his works in 1884.
