Circa 1930-1950 Sahel - Tunisia Precious ceremonial headdress from the Sahel originating from Moknine with precious embroidery of silver blade threads on a yellow satin background forming on the rigid cap with a design of concentric circles. Long adornment in emerald green velvet with sequin embroidery and pink, blue and yellow floche silk threads. The central motif forming a stylized cypress is adorned with polychrome silk pompoms around the edge. Pink glazed cotton lining. Two sections of headdress to tie in pink and cream cotton. Beautiful object of North African ethnology collected at Moknine. Rare small stains but very good general condition and stable fabrics. Dimensions: Height 68 cm, pan width 26 cm, circumference of the cap 330 cm.
