Majestic Andirons Nîmes Bowl Holder, Wrought-engraved Iron, Louis XIII Period
Artist: Art Populaire
Coming from a property, region of Nîmes-Vaunage, a high pair of landiers with forged irons engraved of chevrons, deeply. They are in good condition, engraved and hatched stirrup legs are reinforced with a spacer, high stem has the rotating lugs of spit on front, and ends with two cup-shaped bowl heaters in iron cages.
Engraving is rustic and powerful, see photos. The two lengths, forged thick, are for once little or not worn.
Those landiers were used in hearth to hold the roasting spits and maintain temperature of embers which kept the dishes warm in iron baskets above. A beautiful model, unusual.
Good condition, no flaws, some wear, I vigorously brushed, there is probably a little left to do....
Dimensions: 80cm x 22cm x 43cm deep, approximately 20Kg for pair.
Take a good look at our photos..... Item is for immediate purchase, payable by credit card or paypal.
